On March 21, DMS was excited to welcome our latest Career Day presenter who spoke with students about his exciting career as a flight nurse. Flight nursing is a specialized kind of nursing in which nurses take care of patients who are very sick. They provide emergency care in a helicopter or plane and may care for patients and transport them from the scene of accidents or from one hospital to another. Students learned about many aspects of his job and emergency medicine overall and were even able to practice inserting an endotracheal tube on a manikin. It was an amazing experience that left students with much to consider in their career explorations!

Students in Dr. Heaton's Science 8 classes used their knowledge of wave energy to resolve an issue with internet connectivity in the virtual world using VR headsets. This was definitely a timely topic, as in the real world, we were experiencing issues with internet connectivity. Students gained a better understanding of the many factors involved!

🏀 Dr. Heaton’s Science Class Shoots for STEM Success 🔬: Dr. Heaton’s 8th-grade Physical Science students took on the March Madness Basketball STEM Challenge, designing and building catapult-style shooters to launch a ping pong ball through a hoop. As they tested their designs, they applied Newton’s Three Laws of Motion, exploring how force, acceleration, and reaction forces impact movement. Through teamwork, problem-solving, and a little trial and error, students saw physics in action—proving that science and basketball make a winning combination!
